Heart condition(s): Cardiac arrest 14th November 2000 returning from athletic training, crashed car into brick wall.

Fitness before treatment(s): Very fit - athletic club veterans races, 5/10 miles, 1/2 marathon, marathon, London 1982, Swimming endurance trained.

Treatment(s): Intensive care 4 days at QA Hospital, Portsmouth. Angiogram but no surgery and discharged with low level medication.

Cardiac rehabilitation: Mountbatten Centre under June O'Mara, Cardiac Rehab Nurse. Kendall Gym under Dr. Carling. Collapsed on treadmill 19th Aug 02. Tests indicated oxygen deficiency due to low pulse, medication changed.

Present training regime: Wary about resuming running. Swim 2/3 times per week 40 - 25M lengths in 30 min. total 60 lengths per session. Diving, exercise cycle to 140 bpm, walking, cycling.

Achievements as a Cardiac Athlete: Awaiting exercise ECG at St. Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth on 9th June, consultation11th June. before decision about future exercise regime.

Training tip(s): If used to the discipline of training be careful not to set targets too high and get carried away !

Future goal(s): Possibly to resume running and to keep up swimming to level achieved.
